The University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) has announced a shift in the resumption date for the 2025/2026 academic session. According to a new update from the institution’s management, the earlier resumption date has been postponed by two weeks.
The decision was reached during a meeting of the Committee of Provosts and Deans held on Friday, October 31, 2025. The committee reviewed the initial resumption date of Monday, November 3, 2025, and agreed that additional time was needed to tidy up the ongoing admission process.
UNIPORT explained that the postponement is necessary to ensure a smooth, complete, and well-coordinated admission exercise before academic activities fully resume.
With this adjustment, the new official resumption date is now scheduled for:
Monday, November 17, 2025
The University appealed to students, parents, and guardians to remain patient, emphasizing that the move is in the best interest of the entire academic community. Management added that the shift will allow the institution to make adequate preparations for a successful and stable new academic session.
UNIPORT also expressed appreciation to all stakeholders for their understanding and cooperation.
